Description of Ministry

One of the core values within this church is having a missional heart – which expresses our love not only within, but also beyond, our own local community. People matter.

One of the ways we do this is through our Missions Interest Group (MIG) which actively supports and prays for many long term missionaries in countries all around the world, as well as those heading off on short term mission related trips.

MIG comprises of a group of people committed to praying, supporting and equipping those called to the mission field beyond our local community. MIG also has a financial responsibility, currently receiving 12% of the church income and also acts as communication liaison between missionaries and the church community - seeking to inform through education and updates.

Our ministry is also actively involved in advocating for various other missional causes, often involving events organization, research, education and public speaking.

Why does this Ministry Exist?

Missions is a very stimulating field … and attracts not only those with a heart for adventure and evangelism, but with a desire for being more than spiritual tourists.

Not all of us will be called to destinations beyond our community, but for those that are, our ministry exists to support them in many ways. This includes financial support, prayer, hospitality, overseas visits, as well as short term outreach training and counseling, advocacy and education.

How Can I get Connected?

MIG Meetings - MIG meets once a month for business and prayer. If you are interested in what MIG involves, please contact us to arrange an invitation to one of our meetings.

Prayer - Our Church encourages each other to pray regularly, and we particularly enjoy our prayer time for missions. In addition to your own personal prayer, there are a few ways you could join us in prayer - come along for the prayer time (8:00-8:30pm)during our monthly MIG meetings, or go along to any of the 'Prayer for the Nations' prayer nights, held at peoples homes during the week.

Events - MIG run awareness campaigns on a variety of mission related issues, including our Mission Sundays which update our church on missionary activities. We are always looking for better ways of running these events, and would love to hear from anyone who has an interest to be on team in this area.

Short Term Mission Trips - If you are headinf off on a short term missions trip or would like to know more about opportunities to do so, we'd love to hear from you. Trips are also announced during services.

Training - To better equip our people for short term mission trips, our church runs a 3 day training course dealing with potential cross-cultural, spiritual and personal challenges. Course dates are advised during the course of the year.

Hospitality - We often have missionaries visiting our church and city, and our church has a real gift in hosting them in a variety of ways - including accommodation, provision of vehicles, fellowship at homes with meals, etc. If you have a gift in this area, or have provision to help out with practical needs as the occasions arise, we’d love to hear from you.
