Teaching RE in schools PDF Print E-mail

What a wonderful privilege it is to teach RE each week at Edge Hill Primary. Sharon Price and myself along with Craig Kingsley from Good Shepherd church have been working with Grade 6 & 7 this year.
This term we have been looking at how God’s word can help us in life. (see 2 Tim 3:16) Early in the term some of the kids asked if they could have a Bible of their own and it was such a special day when we were able to give each of the kids a bible of their own. Already some of the kids are getting into them and asking questions about what they read.

Church Kids

Another big highlight this term was Rebekah Honke's - visit to our classes. Rebekah shared with the kids her mission work in Asia and brought along traditional outfits for the kids to dress up in. The pictures she showed of the schools and classrooms the kids have to study in had a huge impact on our kids.
The teachers too were excited and amazed by what Bek had to share and the work she does in Asia. From this one visit the senior students of the school put on a cultural dress day to raise money for our Church to give to mission work overseas! What an amazing God we have!

Please continue to pray for each of our RE teachers and the kids we teach. Please also keep open to the possibility of you becoming a RE teacher.
